Self-Guided Chocolate Tour in Geneva
Hey chocolate enthusiasts!
Kick off your chocolate tour right at the closest chocolate shop – think of it as a chocolate store crawl! Grab 1-2 pralines of your favorite flavors at each spot, with prices typically hovering between 1.5CHF - 2.5CHF per tempting treat.
No need to hit every spot – this list has the crème de la crème. Enjoy the sweet adventure!
The Weather
Before you hit the town, you can check the weather here, don’t worry if it’s rainy or cold- you’ll be spending most of your time indoors so it’s can be a perfect activity also for a rainy day!
Within several min walk from the stunning Quai du Mont-Blanc, which is by the way an excellent spot for a walk with fantastic view to Lake Geneva and the iconic Jet d’Eau you’ll find 2 great chocolateries:
Sweetzerland:
& Canonica:
Which are both more or a takeaway places. You can buy tge flavor that talk to you the most and either eat it on the spot or, depending on the weather, take it with you to Quai the Mont-Blanc and enjoy it with breathtaking view!
The City Center
In the city center you’ll find not less than 6 chocolate hot spots! This will require a bit of a walk so comfortable shoes are recommended.
If you don’t feel like walking much you can always handpick few addresses for the list.
Charlie Ganache:
This chocolate boutique also offer a spoiling hot chocolate pot experience. So if you want to rest your legs and relax you can order that along with a praline or two.
Auer Chocolatier:
A cozy little chocolate shop, beloved by the local Genevois.
Philippe Pascoët:
Now I’m not kidding when I say that this chocolaterie has some very unique flavors.
It’s one of the very favorites by true Genevois and here you will find chocolate combinations with spices, flowers, alcohol and tea.
La Bonbonière:
La bonbonière is also a great hot chocolate address. You can order it with a platter of chocolate or, of course, stick to the plan of sampling a praline or 2 of your choice.
Du Rhône:
This one is certainly one of my very favorites. There is also a sitting area and you can try 1-2 pralines but I highly recommend you try their flagship Noble Dy Rhône chocolate bar- it’s excellent!
Favarger:
Favarger is well known for the creamy Avelines, crunchy Nougalines and Geneva’s flagship chocolate: the Pavé de Genève which are truffles inspired by Geneva’s cobblestones.
Me enjoying a creamy Pavé the Genève:
Known spots:
If you’re are looking for more internationally known addresses that are not necessarily native to Geneva I can recommend Läderach and Sprüngli.
Both have excellent chocolates originated in the German speaking part of Switzerland and sold abroad. You might have seen their stores in the airport.
So I wish you a delicious tour and have fun exploring!
