Packing Guide

Packing Guide

I am a carry-on girl! The only time I check a bag is if the checked baggage price is the same as the carry-on price. I mean this! On my last trip to Europe, I went for three weeks packing only a carry-on bag. This guide is a list of how I pack a carry-on bag no matter how long the trip!

1.) Make an itinerary!

Of course, I think you should book with me but at minimum you should make your own itinerary. Having an itinerary allows you to pack outfits that match your planned activities.

2.) Plan outfits for each activity

I like to do this on paper but you can also do this on your phone! Don't do it in your mind, you won't be able to properly organize the outfits you plan on bringing. Don't think about minimizing the amount of items just plan out outfits you want to wear!

3.) Try your outfits on!

Pull all of your outfit ideas and either place them in a pile or keep them in a space in your closet. Try on each outfit and take pictures. During this time start to assess your outfits, if you planned to pack three pairs of jeans can you pack one pair that is more versatile? Instead of a top that can only be worn once can you pick a top that works well for a full day of activities. Start thinking about minimizing the amount of times you want to pack.

In general jeans and jean shorts can be worn several times before needed to be washed. Shirts tend to only last one full day or two half days!

4.) Write a list of exactly what you are bringing!

I organize this list by undergarments, lounge (pjs and anything you plan on wearing around the accommodations), day, night, beauty, accessories and shoes. This is a comprehensive list of everything that you are taking with you. Now is the time to look again is there anything you do not need or two items that can be replaced with one?

5.) Start packing

If you have packing cubes roll each item as you place them in the cubes. In general when you can role your clothes. Once again make a decision if the item you are packing is necessary for this trip.

6.) Finally, Pack your personal item

Place one extra outfit in your personal item in case you have to check your bag at the gate. Also place your liquids in this bag so you can easily remove the items in the TSA line.

Hope this helps!
