2 Days in Salisbury: A Weekend Itinerary

2 Days in Salisbury: A Weekend Itinerary

Weekend getaway to Salisbury? Or maybe just passing through on your way elsewhere? Whichever it is, here's an itinerary I used myself to relax and enjoy a few sites around the city during a short stay. I've also given a comprehensive review of the accommodation I stayed in. This itinerary is geared towards historical sites, architecture, and some excellent photography locations and is based on my own itinerary when I took this trip. I’ve already worked in improvements that I would follow upon going on this trip again. Trip assumes a late check in on Friday night and check out on Sunday morning. Any walking times are based on a normal walking pace with brief stops for sightseeing. If you’re choosing to take the bus, you’ll need to keep those changes in mind.

Checking In:

Room:

I stayed in a Deluxe Queen. I have no complaints about the room - it was clean, comfortable, and I enjoyed the ambience.

Food:

On both Friday and Saturday night, I ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was amazing, but for anyone traveling on a budget, be aware that the prices are on the higher end. I also ate breakfast in the hotel on Saturday and Sunday. A buffet featuring all the staples of a classic English Breakfast was provided, along with cereal, yogurt, and pastries.

Location:

The Legacy Rose and Crown is located to the south of Salisbury Cathedral. If you're interested in walking to see more of the area, the walk to the cathedral is ten minutes, with the main shopping being another ten minute walk behind that. I highly recommend walking, since the city is beautiful and there are lots of picturesque areas, however, if you don't want to or are unable to walk distances, there is a bus system.

Note: Remember to bring an umbrella, especially if you're walking!

The Great British Break Off:

At the time that I booked my trip there was a promotion going on called The Great British Break Off. This promotion was automatically applied when I booked two consecutive nights in a participating hotel.

Included in the promotion:

       - First night dinner in the hotel (up to £25)

       - Two following mornings of breakfast

       - Bottle of prosecco in the room upon arrival

There were a few other specifics to the promotion, which you can read about here:

Sunday / Day Two

10:30 am - Pack up and check-out

Note on how I was packed: I did this weekend trip with a backpack camera case that held my camera gear and two changes of outfits + toiletries.  I had a second, smaller sling bag that I wore most of the time to carry smaller essentials with me at all times.

4:23 pm - Train departs from Salisbury Station

Day Two Places:

Stonehenge
@kitgonifas
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument that has been classified as a World Heritage Site. Though often seen as a stand alone site, it’s actually part of a larger complex of ancient sites under the care of the English Heritage organization.
