Where to eat
For breakfast
Sicilian cuisine draws from a rich tapestry of cultural influences, creating a unique blend of flavours and ingredients. Breakfast in Sicily is an indulgent affair, often featuring granita with sweet brioche—a semi-frozen treat in various flavours like coffee, almond, or lemon. Traditional pastries like treccine, ciambelle, and millefoglie are also common, with ciambelle resembling fried donuts but softer and sweeter. These pastries, paired with cappuccino or espresso, set the tone for the day in places like Palermo, Scopello, and Trapani, reflecting Sicily's rich and diverse culinary traditions.

For Coffee...
Casa Stagnitta
@jacquitoumbas
Casa Stagnitta is a fantastic coffee spot in Palermo's historic center, where I could get a great cup of coffee and relax in a warm, inviting atmosphere. They have a long tradition of coffee roasting, and you can really taste the expertise in each brew. I also tried their granitas and pastries, which were delightful. It's a cozy place that feels like a local hangout, perfect for a quick break while exploring Palermo

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jacqui Toumbas
As a Australian-born with roots deeply embedded in the rich soil of Cypriot heritage, I bring to the table a zest for life that's as diverse as my background. With a professional footing in nutrition and a passion for cooking, I've always found joy in the art of curating wholesome meals, believing that food is more than sustenance; it's a universal language of love and a bridge between cultures. This belief was the cornerstone of my journey as the owner of Miss Bliss, a café that wasn't just a place to dine but a haven where people came together over the love of good food.
Transitioning from café owner to a content creator, my adventures have taken me from the local streets of West End Brisbane to the breathtaking landscapes of Italy, with a special fondness for Puglia. Here, I discovered a slow, savoured life, where every meal tells a story, and every landscape holds a poem. It's this essence of travel - the slow unveiling of a place's soul through its food, people, and culture - that I wish to share with the world.
My approach to food and travel goes beyond the mere act of eating or visiting places. It's about understanding the narrative behind every dish, the history woven into the cobblestones of ancient towns, and the silent tales of the rolling countryside. Through my content, I aim to inspire others to not just see the world but to feel it, taste it, and understand it.
My journey is a testament to the belief that travel should be an immersive experience, where slow travel and authentic connections pave the way for memories that last a lifetime. From exploring different cultures and cuisines to sharing everything I love about my own culture and food, my goal is to encourage people to fall in love with the world's diversity.
Join me as I continue to explore, create, and share the beauty of slow travel, the richness of authentic cuisines, and the joy of making the world a smaller, more connected place, one story at a time.
