The tale of Livermore wine began in the mid-19th century. Livermore Valley vintners were the first to bottle varietal labeled Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Petite Sirah. Nearly 80% of California's Chardonnay vines trace their genetic lineage back to a Livermore Valley clone.

As time rolled on, Livermore Valley's vineyards continued to thrive, and its wines, especially Chardonnay, gained an illustrious reputation far and wide. Today, Livermore Valley stands as a beacon of wine production, responsible for a significant portion of California's wine output. Its legacy is safeguarded and celebrated through its vineyards, spread across the valley, churning out millions of bottles of vino each year.

While Napa Valley may be internationally renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, the Livermore Valley has made its mark primarily with Chardonnay. Indeed, the vast majority of California's Chardonnay can trace its lineage back to the Wente clone that originated in this region.
