Day 1: Beijing
Upon arriving in Beijing, brace yourself for an exhilarating adventure. Start your exploration at the heart of the city, Tiananmen Square, an iconic symbol of Chinese history. Adjacent to the square, marvel at the magnificent Forbidden City, a sprawling complex of imperial palaces that once housed Chinese emperors. Spend the evening immersing in Chinese culture through food by wandering Wangfujing snack street.

One of the largest city squares in the world! It's free to walk around and explore. In the early morning and evening you can watch the raising and lowering of the flags. It is home to the Monument of the People's Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong.

Forbidden City

There are two entrances to the Forbidden City – the Southern gate (Meridian Gate – Wumen) and the Northern gate (Gate of Divine – Shenwu Men). The Southern gate is linked to Tiananmen Square to the South so you will probably walk right past Tiananmen Square. You have to enter Forbidden City from its southern gate and exit from its northern gate, so I suggest visiting Tiananmen Square first.
