Santa Justa Lift & Viewing Platform 

This 19th Century industrial-era lift transports you 45 meters up from the Baixa district to the Largo do Carmo. Cost is €5.30. Open from 7am to 10:45pm. It is best to go first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Jerónimos Monastery & Discoveries Monument 

Located along the River Tagus where ships departed to explore India and the Orient, the Discoveries Monument celebrates Portugal’s many expeditions and the Portuguese Age of Discovery.  Directly opposite is the   Jerónimos Monastery; a true depiction of Portuguese Gothic Manueline Style and home of the remains of famous Portuguese Explorer, Vasco de Gama.

São Jorge Castle

A Catholic Monument and Shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon in the Almada District. 

Sintra & Cascais Day Trip

There are day tours to which include the most western point of Europe as well as the palatial and coastal towns of Sintra and Cascais. Sintra is home to the Peña Palace which is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pastéis de Nata

Delicious Custard-filled pastries. The most famous are the Pastéis de Belem which can be found near the Jerónimos Monastery in Belém. 

Bifana 

Traditional Portuguese sandwich made with marinated Pork slices with white wine, garlic and paprika. Served in soft rolls with mustard and piri-piri sauce. 

Cod Fish Pie & Croquettes 

The National dish of Portugal is Cod Fish. You will often see it in supermarkets cured in lots of salt in order to dehydrate and preserve the fish. Cod Fish pie and Cod fish Croquettes are a local favourite.

Portuguese Style Chicken 

Served with a Peri-Peri sauce which is essentially hot chili infused oil. 

Route 28 Tram 

This is the best way to see the city as it takes you on a route of the major sights and neighbourhoods. Just be careful of Pickpockets. Costs €3 and tickets can be bought on board.
