Experience and explore Namibia - with a backpack
There are a few things important to know when traveling to Namibia on a budget. First of all, give yourself time! As you will be reliant on shuttles, generous people you meet on the way or buses, it will be difficult to plan everything exactly. Additionally, try to take some camping equipment with you. Most places have a backpackers (what you'd call hostels in other countries) but the remote places usually only provide very luxurious lodges or campsites.
Don't let this get you down though! Once you start in Namibia, you'll realize there is just so much to see and explore in so many remote places. I wanted to extend my stay every single time!
This guide will first elaborate on the different modes of transportation and then dive deeper into a few of the amazing places Namibia has to offer.
How to get around
Don't get me wrong, as distances between places are huge, traveling around Namibia is best done with a car with a rooftent. However, these cars are crazy expensive, and as a solo backpacker, unaffordable. Luckily, more and more backpackers realize the beauty of this country and thus different modes of transportation are emerging.
