Discovering Florence
It’s thanks to Florence that I fell in love with Italy and made the life-changing decision to move here. I studied abroad in the city 14 years ago and was deeply moved by its people, culture, art, and, of course, its food and wine. Fun fact: nine years ago, I took a wine course under the tutelage of Diletta Frescobaldi—an experience that would ultimately change the course of my life. It led me to pursue WSET and sommelier certifications, leave my sales job in NYC, and move to Tuscany for a harvest.
Florence is a small, walkable city brimming with history, incredible people, breathtaking art, and comforting food and wine. Here’s my guide to experiencing it all
Restaurants & Wine Bars
Eating well in Florence is easy, but so is ending up with a disappointing meal—something you should absolutely avoid in Italy. Life’s too short, and the food here is too good. Here are some of my favorite spots, a perfect mix of beloved classics and secret spots that make you feel right at home.
Le Volpi e L'uva

A personal favorite of mine, Le Volpi e L'uva is a delightful wine bar serving up great snacks to pair with their extensive wine selection.
Trattoria Sostanza
