Must Knows:
-Big Bend National Park is HUGE! It's also very remote so expect a lot of driving. You don't need 4 wheel drive for most areas, but there are a couple of trails that do require it. They are noted below!
-Staying in the national park is highly recommended to reduce your time on the road and be able to maximize your time.
-There is easily enough to do to fill 5-6 days, but if you are short on time, you can explore the Chisos Basin and Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive area well in two days.
-Don't forget about the stars! Big Bend is one of the best stargazing places in the US due to the remote location and lack of night pollution. If you're camping, you can enjoy the true darkness, but even the lodge uses minimal light and will still give great views.
-You are in the desert, so get ready to see lots of wildlife! Don't forget the bear spray in case you run into bears or mountain lions.
