Guatemala between traditions and modernity

Guatemala between traditions and modernity

Guatemala is a very large country where the culture is very strong. In 10 days it is better to concentrate on a small part of the country. Between Antigua, Lake Atitlan, and Chichicastenango you will be immersed in the Guatemalan culture. You will also relax on the beach and if you're between September and November you can even see baby turtles hatching. Between volcanic Mayan customs and traditional villages, this trip will be very varied. Colonial towns, Museums, Gastronomy, Relaxation, Local markets, Volcanoes, Beach. I consider that accommodations are personal and depend on many criteria, so accommodations are not mentioned in this itinerary. However, transportation with shuttles is indicated. You will find some very good ones on Bookings. The delivery includes: Day-by-day itinerary for 10 days: Antigua Pacaya Chichicastenango Panajachel San Juan de la Laguna San Marcos San Pedro Paredon Antigua

EN: Spend the rest of the day visiting Antigua, and strolling through its narrow streets. Look at the details, the little stores, don't hesitate to enter the cafés and boutiques. Many boutiques offer interesting interior courtyards. Let yourself be captured by the colors, by this new country. Antigua is an incredible city when you get to know it. Day 2

Antigua guatemala

EN: Start your day with a walking tour through the streets of Antigua. The guide will explain the history of the city, the architecture of the churches, the impact of the volcanoes, and many other anecdotes. You can book your tour with Guru Walk. Personally, whenever I'm in a new city, I book a tour with them. It allows me to discover the city through a guide, and I'm never disappointed. The tour is free, but the guide is paid with tips. In general, $10 per person is a fair amount for a 3-hour tour. You can ask your guide where to have lunch.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I'm Maëlys and I've always had a passion for travel. From a very young age, I've been immersed in the world of travel. Following my studies in the tourism sector and my ever-increasing desire to leave home, I decided to take the plunge into the unknown in 2022. I set off with my rucksack to Central America, with nothing planned and travelling solely by public transport. All in all, 8 months of travelling, 6 countries crossed, a few voluntary jobs and a lot of memories. Since then, I've also visited some of Europe's capital cities and I don't intend to stop there. The words that define me: are spontaneous, adventurous, thirsty for discovery, enthusiastic and always on the go. Travelling is a passion that allows me to discover the beauty of the whole world and the different cultures that inhabit it, as well as meet incredible people along the way. The idea for this blog and travel planner was born during my travels. I noticed that on the one hand, I had a lot of questions about travelling alone, especially as a woman, and on the other, I had a lot of tourist-related questions about where to go and what to visit, so I decided to launch Maelys' Travels to bring it all together. My studies and professional experience in the tourism sector have also helped me to structure my itineraries.
