Raiatea & Taha'a

35 minutes away from Bora, you can explore and discover the second largest island of the Society Islands after Tahiti: Raiatea. You can easily go around the island by car in one day. By doing so, you'll discover the magnificient views over the lagoon and the impressive inner mountains of the island. You can then go to Bon Apetahi, located just on the Uturoa port, for an afternoon snack with one of their delicious pastries if you hadn't had the chance to stop at this bakery for breakfast. You could also decide to head to the Fish & Blue restaurant at Tumaraa, magically decorated, where you can enjoy some cocktails at one of their beachfront tables, waiting for a stunning sunset. Definitely worth a little detour! A perfect location to reside on the island during your stay is the Bouddha Villa, a peaceful and relaxed house, where you'll have your privacy while benefiting from the genuine kind hosts' top advice.

From Raiatea, you can easily reach Taha'a, the ultimate vanilla island, by boat. It might be the best way for you to do so, as the island isn't reachable by plane. Here, you'll be able to visit the traditional rum distillery Pari Pari and of course a vanilla plant. The Vallée de la Vanille is one of the only plants open to the public that you'll be able to visit and provides a quite complete tour around the story of the vanilla in the region. Besides, a lot of different pearl farms are to be visited among the various islands. However, the Love Here Pearl Farm in Taha'a is of great interest, the tour including the complete process of the pearls. The farm also offer the possibility of designing your own pearl jewelry!
