A Backpacker's Guide to Bangkok ☀️🍜🌇🏍
Bangkok
Transport Tips
Tuk Tuk - These are best for short journeys. They can be hailed from the streets and have the added bonus of being able to weave around the traffic. Beware of being overcharged - it’s always best to haggle!! A 10 min trip should cost around 100 baht.
Grab - The Grab app it’s the cheapest form of transport, cheaper than local taxis and tuk tuks. The app works like any other taxi app, and also doubles up as a food delivery app (like Uber/Uber eats). The only thing to note is that traffic in the city can be terrible, so far journeys may take way longer than expected.
Taxi - Taxis are safe and reliable, and can be hailed on the street. Running on a meter, prices cannot be haggled. These are best for long distance travelling e.g. to the airport or bus station
Bike - Bike rental ranges from 1200-1400 baht for a week, and 2500-3500 baht for a month. If you are a beginner, it is not advised to ride a bike in Bangkok - the streets are busy and fast. Remember safety first - always wear a helmet!
