If it's your first time maybe you'll want to visit the whole island and spend time in each area. It's a small island , you can travel from one side to the other in 2.5 hours. However, for first timers I recommend spending a few days in different areas. Depending on where you're coming from will determine how long you visit. I travel about 12 hrs to get to Cyprus so I like to stay at least 2 weeks. We chose to stay in Protaras (my favourite area for beaches) and then we rented a car to get around.
