Flushing, NYC: Food Crawl + Bonus Food Map

This is a food tour that I've actually done with a few friends, so it's tried, tested, & true! It includes 7 spots that are all within walking distance of each other so itâs perfect for a fun day trip. Each spot in the crawl serves food that you can order in small amounts. That means you can try ALL of the spots in a day! 5 of them feature savory options, and the last 2 feature awesome desserts. The order of the stops makes the most sense for walking.
Most of the stops in this food crawl offer Chinese food, because of the heavy Chinese influence in the Flushing area. Most people think of Manhattanâs Chinatown when they think of Chinatown in New York. However, most of the food in Manhattan Chinatown is Cantonese (and yes, it's great!). On the other hand, Flushing is Queensâ Chinatown. It's not necessarily forgotten, but it represents mainland China more. Manhattanâs Chinatown is more compressed, whereas Flushing has a lot of big food halls, grocery stores, and communities so it feels more local.
I've also included a bonus map of 15 of my other favorite food spots in Flushing and nearby Murray Hill⌠in case you happen to still be hungry, or if you ever return to Flushing & just want to try something new! The bonus spots aren't in walking distance the way the ones in the food crawl are. But I wanted to include some food in this guide that wasn't just Chinese, to highlight the Korean, Indian, and Taiwanese demographics that also influence these neighborhoods.

Stop 1
This spot is located right off of the Main St. Metro stop (7 Train) in downtown Flushing, so you can hop off the train and start your food tour!

This place is located right off the train and offers a lot of affordable eats. They're especially known for their chow fun ($3.50). They actually give you a decent amount, so it's a good idea to order to share with your friends here. They also carry some traditional Taiwanese food, such as Taiwanese sausage ($2.50), Fan Tuan, which is sticky rice with a dough cruller inside ($3), and dumplings & baos. A lot of Flushing locals love this spot.
This spot is cash only.

White Bear

The best thing to order here is the number 6 on the menu. It's 12 wontons for $10. They're spicy wontons with a pork filling with some chives and maybe a little bit of seafood. They put pickled vegetables on top & it's essentially dressed with hot chili oil. This spot is a local staple and has been in Flushing for a while. A lot of the major food publications such as Eater & Food52 have picked up on it in the last 5 or so years & it's been called "the best wonton you can get.â If you're in Flushing you definitely have to visit!
This spot is cash only.
