Where to Stay
If you're on any sort of a budget, the town of Amalfi is the best place to stay. It's definitely the best bang for your buck as far as accommodations go. Positano is very expensive, and Amalfi is right next to Positano. It's very central and will allow you to explore the other towns in Amalfi easily. It still has a good size to it. It's not as big and glamorous as Positano, but it still has stuff going on, and you can still go to Positano easily.

This is where I stayed in Amalfi and it was great and very affordable. It's a four star hotel (by European standards which are a little bit different than American standards). It's very quaint, not super luxury, but it's really cute. It's right on the water and tehy have a breakfast that's included every morning.
It's about a 2 minute walk to the ferries and bus stop that will take you to any of the places you might want to go in Amalfi.
They also have a rooftop bar that's really nice to go to, even if you're not staying at the hotel. It has a great view of Amalfi.

If you're looking for an even more affordable place to stay, you can check out the town of Atrani, right next to Amalfi. The hotels there are even more reasonable than in Amalfi and it has the same benefits of being in Amalfi because it's so central.
