Vienna is known for desserts, but these little green things will take you to a whole different world. Some of them are well known, some of them are hidden gems, but every place is worth a visit!

The tiny green nut and how it took over Vienna
A pistachio. Kind of a low-key nut on the first look but wow, the tiny fella flipped over Vienna's dessert world in weeks. It doesn't look just amazing, the restaurants and cafes down below made the very best out of it. So get going, and treat yourself with Vienna's best pistachio desserts!
Grey Kaffee

Probably where it all started and where everything went viral. A small cafe in the 17th district is serving Italian Cornetti, filled with a traditional pistachio cream which is imported straight from Sicily. The owner made sure to only get the best ingredients and everything high quality. And since it is a cornetti – which means less buttter and fat than a croissant – it is basically healthy, right?

So there is this traditional roman dessert where you put pistachio creme in a fluffly brioche bun and it just looks and tastes amazing. It's fluff combined with more fluff that just melts in your mouth!

The Donut Corner Vienna
@magdalenaallerstorfer
So the name says it all – Donut Corner. But now imagine a donut but like a croissant: a Cronut. And now to make it even better, we put some pistachio cream on the inside and crumble the whole nuts on the outside. Voilá!

So since it is about the dessert, I will make it quick: this is the best pasta restaurant (they also serve homemade pistachio pesto) but the pistachio panna cotta is out of this world! It may look a little shy, but the taste is just immaculate!

Monte Ofelio

This dessert also brings us to Italy, but waaay in the South: Sicily. The traditional cannoli are crispy rolls, filled with cream and topped with pistachios. I love mine with a strong espresso martini. And also: if you are looking for italian vibes in Vienna – go there!
