The places I always return to in the nonstop city.

Not to repeat myself every time I introduce a guide about Tel Aviv, but I DID live here for a while in 2022.
And it remains one of my favorite cities in the world for a myriad of reasons.
But one thing I will say is that besides the beach and nightlife, there's not a TON to do. There's one substantial yet small art museum (and a few other misc museums sprinkled around), a few good parks, some great shuks (markets) and mostly stores, cafes and coffee shops. I say this to affirm that that is indeed how I spent most of my time when I wasn't socializing (and when I was to be honest). I've been to a TON of places in Tel Aviv and here are my absolute favorites.

My favorite place in the whole city. It’s a Scandinavian cafe with very good branding and very good people who work there and very good food and drinks. Some of the only legitimately good matcha in Tel Aviv, or at least good enough to spend an obligatory $6 on. Their rice pudding is exceptional, as are their scrambled eggs and homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter. They also have delicious coffee and happy hour with great natural wines every day until 6. Definitely go.

האחים

The best sit-down Israeli food in the city (most of the best is street food). I have loved every single thing I've ever eaten here and so has everyone I've gone with.

A lot of people will tell you to go here when you're in Tel Aviv and they are all correct. I've been here many many times and it never gets old. A classic move is to get here early and order the pizza to eat outside in the park while the sun is setting, then go inside to start the night with drinks once it's dark

Jaffa Cinema
@sarahpollock
Awesome intimate movie concept playing old/few/foreign/every type of movie you can think of. They keep the schedule updated on their Instagram and tickets can sell out fast.

Park HaMesila
@sarahpollock
This stretch always reminds me of the High Line in Manhattan. A perfectly peaceful green path in the middle of concrete chaos. Except you can picnic in this one, and there are lots of cool bars and restaurants backing right up to it. Probably one of my favorite spots to spend time in all of Tel Aviv

Zielinski & Rozen
@sarahpollock
Amazing natural apothecary/fragrance store in Jaffa. There are a million scents so it would be a stretch to not find ONE you like. Their bath and body products are also very good.
Note: Zielinski and Rozen is a worldwide chain (I've seen stores in Paris and Barcelona) but it's substantially cheaper to buy their products at the flagship).

Some of my favorite smoothies maybe ever. The melon, mango, pineapple and coconut one is phenomenal. As is the iced coffee and banana (a much healthier alternative to the quintessential super sweet Israeli iced coffee beverage)

Sarah Pollock is a twenty-something-year-old traveler, creative, and spiritualist.
She graduated with a degree in Business Information Systems (although she did not enjoy it) and a minor in Sustainability from the University of Florida. Since embarking on her first trip abroad to Australia and New Zealand at 15 years old, she has since visited 25 countries and counting- most of them solo.
She is also an avid foodie, reader, concert-goer, sitter at coffee shops, introspective thinker, and champion of small businesses. She prides herself on her romantic and nostalgic approach to seeing the world, which is reflected in the hidden gem-filled and slightly sentimental tone of her writing and recommendations.
She recently spent this past school year splitting time between Tel Aviv and Be’er Sheva, Israel; teaching English to underrepresented and underprivileged children in both Hebrew and Arabic-speaking schools. She is currently continuing this work in Madrid.
For more personal thoughts and musings and present updates on where she is in the world and how she’s feeling about it, consider subscribing to her bi-weekly travel newsletter, Postcards. Other subject matters, though all undoubtedly influenced by her experience living abroad, are explored through her primary publication, Older Sister (both linked in bio).
