Bolivar Peninsula, TX
Overview
Bolivar Peninsula, also referred to as Port Bolivar and Crystal Beach, is a beach lovers paradise in the Upper Texas Gulf Coast region. You can reach the peninsula from Galveston Island via the ferry or drive in from Houston via the I-10 freeway.
One thing that makes Bolivar unique is you can drive, camp, set off fireworks, and have a fire on the beach (please be mindful of burn bans, keep all fires & fireworks on the beach, and properly extinguish and cover all fires)! This is not a free beach, however, but the parking pass only costs $10 and is valid for one calendar year. Beach passes can be purchased at most local businesses, or from a beach parking attendant you can find driving up and down the beach in a golf cart.
Places to Stay
Most of the dwelling options along Bolivar Peninsula are second homes that families rent out and can be found on AirBnB and VRBO. There are some great options for those who like to travel with their RVs, and I have listed a couple below.
