Anyone interested in having a "Berry Good Time" in Vista simply cannot miss the annual Vista Strawberry Festival. Since 2010, the Vista Chamber of Commerce has hosted this festival to celebrate the history of Vista's excellent strawberry harvest in the 1960s and 1970s. Vista’s sweet legacy as a strawberry hub lives on through this annual festival despite local production declining. Once dubbed the “Unofficial Strawberry Capital of the World,” Vista’s berries were so famous during this time that Dutch consumers nicknamed them “Vistas."

Strawberry Run
As a part of the annual Strawberry Festival, Vista hosts the Strawberry Run. This entails a 5K (3.1-mile) course, with a 1.25-mile option for kids. Runners can wear traditional race gear or wear strawberry costumes to have a "Berry Good Time!"
Vista Rod Run
Every year, Vista holds its Rod Run, where old-style cars and trucks drive along Downtown Vista. This event is usually held towards the end of the year (the 2024 event was in September). Participants can win trophies, attendees can listen to great music, and the community can enjoy the show!

The Highway 395 Mural Corner
Step back in time with Vista’s Route 395 Mural! Vista's Route 395 Mural is a vibrant 14’x70’ tribute to classic cars and the city's local history that was created and unveiled in 2014. Designed by local Kait Matthews and brought to life by talented artists, this masterpiece is loved by locals and is a great showcase of some of the great art in Vista!
Margarita Fischer Mural
Margarita Fischer was a well-known American silent film actress in the early 1900s, who had German heritage and starred in a plethora of films. Her most famous role was as an African-American slave girl in the movie Uncle Tom's Cabin. During WWII, Fischer changed the spelling of her name multiple times due to anti-German sentiment in the United States and abroad.
Fischer and her husband, Harry A. Pollard, lived in Vista and owned the Rancho Buena Vista adobe for twenty years. In the 1940s, she continued to live in San Diego and later on died in 1975 in the City of Encinitas.
This mural is located just behind the Backfence Society, located on Citrus Avenue.

The San Diego Food Bank has two locations, one in Vista and the other in metropolitan San Diego. Serving 400,000 people monthly and distributing millions of pounds of food every year, SDFB partners with 500+ nonprofits to deliver nutritious food to families and individuals in need countywide.
The Food Bank thrives on the support of the community via food and financial donations as well as volunteers helping package meals for its variety of programs, including the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, the Emergency Food Assistance Program, and more!
