Cheaper accommodation in New York City (Manhattan)

In this guide I will share with You some of my favorite cheaper places to stay when visiting New York City. I prefer staying in Manhattan (as far away from The Times Square area as possible😂). I usually book my accomendation immediately and choose rooms with free cancellation in case a better deal turns up or my planes change. Please use my affiliate link if You book a stay at Leo House - and feel free to leave a tip. Hotels are usually crazy expensive in New York City! When something is cheap(er) it is usually for a reason. Most of the places in this guide don’t have a lot of facilities, they are old and some have shared bathroom in the hallway too. Others have breakfast included and one place even offer free dinner Sunday through Thursday. The Leo House

Leo House is a nonprofit Catholic guesthouse dedicated to offering affordable accommodations. People of all faiths are welcome. The Penington Friends House is a residence and guest house located in Gramercy Park - and is within walking distance of SoHo and Greenwich Village. Penington Friends House has been creating caring community in New York City since 1897. It is run by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for Quakers and friendly people. They have two guest rooms for NYC visitors. The Phebe Room (single room) has one full bed, while the Darlington Room (double room) has two full beds. Both rooms have a private sink and toilet. A private shower for guests only is located just outside of the rooms. A/C is available in the summer months. Free wifi. Towels and linens are provided. Dinner (Sunday-Thursday 6-7pm) is included in Your stay - and simple breakfast foods, coffee and tea are available free of charge too. Rates (2024) no hidden taxes or fees: Phebe Room one person 147 USD/night. Darlington Room 168 USD/night. +20 USD/night for each additional adult. Children 4-12 years old are +10 USD/night, while children under 3 years of age stay for free.

Menno House is a residence and guest house located in Gramercy Park - and is within walking distance of SoHo, Greenwich Village and Midtown Manhattan. They provide housing for church volunteers, students, and nonprofit workers - and have three guest rooms for NYC visitors. The guest rooms are located on the Parlor Floor and share a downstairs bathroom. On the Garden Floor is also the common room and the kitchen (shared with the residents) where guests have acces to a small cupboard and refrigerator for storing food. Each room has a queen size bed, as well as a loft of about 4′ clearance that holds additional mattresses. Rooms have A/C and free wifi. Towels and linens are provided. Rates (2024) no hidden taxes or fees: One person 100 USD/night + 40 USD/night for each additional adult. Children under 12 years old are + 20 USD/night, while children under 6 years old stay for free.
