Arrival into Costa Rica
Choosing an airport
There are 2 international airports in Costa Rica, San Jose (SJO) and Liberia (LIR)
Juan Santamaría International Airport
@NickBattaglia
Allow for plenty of time to clear customs: Since Monteverde is located about 4 hours northwest of San Jose, you'll likely be needing plenty of time to drive if you aren't staying in the city for the night.
There is a Walmart situated right next to the airport for immediate needs. We got cell phone SIM cards there for our trip.

Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) / Guanacaste Airport
@NickBattaglia
LIR is a relatively small airport compared to San Jose International Airport, so navigating the terminal is easy. This airport is located 3.5-4 Hours from Monteverde.
