During a year of living and working remotely in Rome, Italy, I was always on the lookout for a good place to get work done with reliable wifi. With a variety of locations, pricing, and environments, here are my top five!

Essenza Verde

Right in the center of the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome, Essenza Verde is the perfect spot for working, reading, or just hanging out with friends. The indoors is complete with free books and board games to keep you busy, as well as floor to ceiling windows that let lots of natural light flow into the dim ambiance. The wifi is fast and reliable, and the environment is normally quiet enough for individual focus. This spot is also a perfect evening cocktail bar for an aperitivo or just people watching.

Ex Circus

This quiet cafe tucked away within the Piazza Navona neighborhood is the perfect spot for individual work. There is lots of indoor space with many small tables and couches near the back. They also offer a printing service that charges 0.50 euro per page which can come in handy. Be sure to bring your headphones if you need background music!

Casale Dei Cedrati

This cafe is perfect for beautiful days in the Spring and Fall in Rome. It is connected to one of the largest parks in metropolitan Rome (Villa Doria Pampili), which is great to explore in itself. There is a large outdoor patio perfect for hanging out in the sun, and also some shaded areas with larger tables. While this one is a bit outside of the busiest tourist areas in Rome, it is definitely worth the venture and can be accessed easily by bus.

Bibliobar Roma

Situated on the side of the Tiber river and in front of the Castel Sant'Angelo, Bibliobar has a lively environment every day of the week. Complete with free books to read and life size board games, this cafe is perfect for remote workers who need some background noise. Although they are situated in a very touristy part of Rome, their prices are very reasonable!

Bukowski's

While this last one isn't necessarily a cafe, they have a great indoor environment with reasonably priced drinks and reliable wifi - perfect for late night projects or group work! I love this spot; situated in the Prati neighborhood it will give you somewhat of a local feel.
