Getting to city center from airport in Lisbon is super easy: you just need to use the red line of metro and on Alameda station change for green line towards Cais do Sodre.

If you're arriving by train, you probably get off at Lisbon Oriente. You need to use the red line of metro directing to S.Sebastiao and on Alameda station change for green line towards Cais do Sodre.

At the morning go to Miradouro next to the hostel. You can buy some food in the market or order breakfast in Miradouro bar which is located in the same place. Eat and enjoy city view! (If you're staying in different hotel which is too far from this place you can check the rest of the itinarery for miradouro closer to your location).

Next you will see one of the main squares in the city. Make sure to notice the unusual paving.

Walk by the oldest elevator in the world. You can take a ride, but I don't recommend it as it's expensive and the line is long. View from above is not as good as from one of miradouros.

Stop by to get a coffee in the most famous cafe in Lisbon, aesthetic of this place is extraordinary so even if you don't want coffee, check the place.

Take photos at the picturesque street and if you fancy the party you can come back here later for some drinks and dancing, as it is the main party area in the city.

Then you can eat some lunch at Time Out Market. It's a big hall with lots of restaurants, so everyone can find something for themselves if traveling in group. I recommend beef burgers and shrimps.

Main and most famous place in the city. Nearby the river so you can walk by and enjoy the breeze.

Walk around the Alfama neighbourhood, which is famous for fado music, street art and hills (so prepare for good hiking). Get lost, that's the part of the sightseeing that can't be planned! Maybe you happen to bump into Se (the cathedral) or Castle, maybe you will see some amazing graffiti or maybe you will hear some live music. Also for sure you will see famous tram 28 maaany maaany times.

End the day (preferably during sunset) at the most famous miradouros. Two of them are just next to each other, be sure not to miss the other one.  It's probably gonna be a bit crowded, so maybe don't focus on getting the best picture, just enjoy the view and live music.

If you want you can grab a drink at this location and enjoy the same view but less crowded. 

Starting the day by going to one of the most hidden gems of the city. When going by metro, go by blue line to Jardim Zoologico station.

This place is far from the city center and tickets are not so cheap, but it's so worth it. You will see beautiful azulejos, the best I've seen in whole Portugal! Place is calm and refreshing especially in the morning. Take your time, don't rush, visit should take you about 2 hours + 1 hour transport two ways.

When going back go to Rato station (blue line and on Avenida change for yellow or get off at Avenida and go from there if you feel like walking).

miradouro in Portugal is the hill with a view (usually a terrace)

single metro ticket is 1,65 euros and working from 6:30 a.m. to 01:00 a.m.

if your visit takes place on Tuesday or Saturday, visit Fiera da Ladra from 6 a.m to 3 p.m.

Botanical Garden has many interesting species and is oasis-like place in this hot city. It is green and very lively even during winter.

Next, if you have power for looong walk you can walk by the riverside towards red Golden-Gate-like bridge. If you choose urban transport go by metro to Cais do Sodre and from there by train to Alcantara-Mar station.

See the bridge and chill by the river and then go to...

Probably the coolest, the most hippy-dippy place in Lisbon. It's the space with lots of restaurants, lots of shops and ateliers and street art exhibitions. Soak up the atmosphere. I recommend eat some good meal and stay till night.

At the morning rush to Belem. You will go there by train from Cais do Sodre station. Belem is some kind of subcity of Lisbon. Locals don't consider themselves as Lisbon's citizens. Belem is definitely different from center, have fun discovering it.

For breakfast go to the oldest and most famous pasteiserie in Portugal. It's the only place with Pasteis de Belem in the world as the name of these sweets is reserved for this place and their secret recepie. The rest of pasties is just an imitation and is called pasties de nata (some says they are as good as original one, but I personally love original ones and see the difference).

That is the most architecturally important building in Lisbon. Take time to admire famous facades.

Soak up the Belem atmosphere and relax in the park with a view on Torre de Belem.

Next go to the city port. There are many great restaurants and few clubs so you can hit the party or take a walk (or train) back to the city and drink some Porto wine by the riverside.

Get ready cuz it's the most intensive day of all.

Take a train to Sintra (it's 30 minutes and about 8 euros) and let's get it started!

Sintra got really famous lately so make sure to book tickets to palaces.

Good (but not cheap) option in Sintra is get to one of the old cars waiting outside the train station and let them take you all the places you want (you hire them for all or half a day). If you don't do it, use local buses.

Start with Pena Palace (pay for ticket with bus included because the palace is really far and on the hill) before it get crowded as it's the most famous place in Sintra. Then go through the palace gardens which remainds more of a jungle than Versailles-like perfect spaces.

Next go to (my personaly favourite) one. Maybe palace isn't so impressive but the garden with the small architectural elements and sculptures surely is.

Go back to city center to eat famous (and sooo delicious) queijadas de Casa Piriquita. Coffee here is also great!

Walk by next Palace and through narrow streets of Sintra.

If you rented a car, you can visit hidden gem of Sintra:

It's not accessible by bus or train and that's why it's not crowded, but it's so worh it to go there. Interior of the building is Morocco-like, rich, full of colours space. Garden also has so many tropical and exotic plants. 

Eat diner in one of the two places with panoramic view (both are delicious) on Sintra.

Afterwars go to taste regional drinks and wines in little window bar and take a final stroll through the city center.
