Savannah, Georgia lives up to the name "Hostess City of the South". This charming city is the perfect hostess to the 3rd largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the US, bachelorettes, hauntings and a romantic weekend getaway. You won't regret a long weekend with friends, family or your lover.

When to go

I think time is best spent here over a long weekend. Savannah gets really busy during St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween. I prefer to visit in Spring (with the rest of the tourists) or Fall when it is slightly less crowded.

How to navigate

Savannah is walkable. Ubers are not typically hard to find if you need to get across town fast. The trolley tours can also get you all over town.

Where to stay

Hotel Bardo Savannah
@out.of.officewithlb
Talk about Luxe! I would pick this for a romantic weekend away or girls trip. Hotel Bardo is formerly known as “The Mansion on Forsyth Park.” They are set to reopen in February 2024, and I will definitely be visiting! Cooking classes, lounging at the pool or a spa day are just a few options of how to spend your time here. They even let you borrow tennis gear if you would like to play at Forsyth Park. The restaurant on site, Saint Bibiana, will transport you to the Amalfi Coast. Hotel Bardo looks like a super dreamy resort experience.

JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District
@out.of.officewithlb
Stay here for a bachelorette, it’s just a short walk away from all the bars that line River Street. JW Marriot Savannah Plant Riverside District Hotel has been renovated from an old power plant to a luxurious accommodation. If you don't stay here, I would recommend at least to stop by while on River Street. The hotel is decorated with giant geodes and has a HUGE chrome dipped replica of a dinosaur. It is a sight. We were lucky and got upgraded to the Corner King Studio Suite when staying here for a long weekend. It was a dream!

The Marshall House, Historic Inns of Savannah

Stay here for a spooky experience. Let me preface this by saying, this is a super haunted hotel. I'll leave it up to you to research the history. Regardless of our friends beyond the grave, this is a beautifully restored hotel and is in prime location.

Thunderbird Inn

Stay here for a fun weekend, it is a short walk to all of the attractions and has such a fun vibe! Thunderbird Inn is a super affordable, but fun option. It is decked out in retro decor and they greet you with a hot popcorn. Upon entering the room you will receive a RC Cola and Moon Pie. This is also a great option if you are traveling with pets, they even have an enclosed dog run.

Where to eat

Treylor Park
@out.of.officewithlb
Drunk + Munchies = Drunchies. This always a stop for us. I like to not taste my alcohol when I drink, and they make a Grapeful Dead that is dangerous. It tastes like grape kool aid, that’s it.

Something Sweet

I think it’s still worth the stop even though it’s super touristy. They have several flavors that are unique and DELICIOUS. Honey almond and cream is my favorite flavor from here.

What to see

Ghost & True Crime Tours, Pub Crawls

We visited Savannah for the first time in 2020, 3 years later we still talk about the tours we took with Cricket! Cricket was the best tour guide and the life of the party; make an effort to tour Savannah with her, you won’t regret it! This is a great way to learn about true history & ghost legends while taking advantage of Savannahs open container policy. Not to brag, but we did 3 pub crawls in one day, it’s possible. ;)

Underground Tours with Pat

Tour Savannah with Sister Pat, she gave us some eye opening information about slave trade and African American history that is often overlooked. She will have you searching the city for Adinkra symbols and you will learn so much. She is a very passionate advocate, and has done ALOT to correct historical misinformation and bring the injustice to light.

Pedal Pub

Another fun way to explore the city! If you haven’t experienced a bar bike before, this is a good place to try it. In Savannah, all of the bar bikes actually require you to pedal, they have no motors. But, no worries, it wasn’t too much of a workout, and you get to stop often for refreshments.

Old Towne Trolley Tours-

The trolley tours are a good way to see a lot of the city in a short period of time, and not a bad means of transportation.

The Savannah Bananas

If you are lucky enough to score some Savannah Bananas tickets you have to go! If you’ve been living under a rock or just don’t have Tik Tok and don’t know who the Savannah Bananas are, they are like the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball. I personally am a member of the K Club and plan to see a few games local to me and in Savannah this upcoming season. Tickets are $25 at face value, but if purchased through a resale sight can be exponentially higher. Banana ball games in Savannah include all you can eat concessions! My suggestion is to get a membership for $60 a year and have the opportunity to buy tickets at face value, or enter their ticket lottery to score tickets without the membership. Or you may have a super cool friend that has access to tickets that may can help you out. ;)

Sorrel Weed House Museum

Other fun stops & shops

The Soapery

The Soapery is a locally owned boutique with artisan, small-batch bath and body products. They fill the street with bubbles and have the CUTEST window decor, perfect for quick photo opp. Upon walking in the boutique we were welcomed by two furry greeters and the hospitality did not stop there. Check this place out for the best bath bombs, bubble bath, lotions and more.

Pounce Cat Cafe

Byrd’s Famous Cookies

Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming

Shop here to bring some goodies back to your pups.

What to watch out for

Imagine New Orleans, but cleaner and safer. Watch your surroundings as you always should, especially in urban areas. Mobility could be an issue for some as there are cobblestone streets and historic steps. The cobblestones somehow become easier to trip on after a few drinks, so be careful.
