Not everyone is as into this, but I am. I love seeing wildlife on my hikes. These are some of the top hikes and places I've been in Colorado to see moose, elk, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and even some bears, lynx, and bobcats.

Garden of the Gods

Abner Sprague homesteaded in this area more than a century ago and created a trout pond by damming a stream. Sprague also undoubtedly appreciated the breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, which are best seen from this trail at the far end of the lake. A wheelchair-friendly loop, the surface is packed gravel and level around the entire lake. On the opposite side is an accessible campsite, noted in this route’s Timeline below. There are accessible parking spots, picnic tables, and restrooms (flush in summer, vault in winter). This and the Bear Lake nature trail are also the only places strollers are allowed in the Bear Lake Corridor.
