A 21 day backpacking trip with public transport trough Panama. The guide shows which buses you have to take and give recomondations about hostels, activities and supermarcets.  

Panama

We came from Costa Rica with the bus and arrived in David. From David every 25min is a bus to Bajo Boquete. It is a one houre ride (1,75$).

Public Transport from Boquete to Bocas del Toro: 

1. Bus to David every 25min, we took the bus at 8:40am and it is a one hour ride to David (1,75$)

2. Bus to Almirante every 30min, we took the bus at 10:00am and it is a 4 hour ride to Almirante (8,45$) 

3. Take a taxi to the port for 1$ per person or walk 15min

4. Bus or Boat Taxi or walk to your Hotel/Hostel depands where you stay

4. Boat to Isla Colon every 30min, one way is 6$, if you also buy a retourn ticket than it is 10$ for both ways

Public transport from Bocas del Toro to Panama City:

1. take the boat to Almirante - every 30min 

3. Bus to Panama City: in the morning (6am) or in the evening (6pm) goes for 10h straight to the city for 29$. The bus makes 2 breaks and is a little bit cold. 

You can book everthing together at Bocas in the Information center.

Public transport from Panama City to Anton Valley:

1. take a bus/metro/uber to the busstation Albrook

2. take the bus to Anton Valley, the bus drives every 30 min and take 3 hours. It costs 4,25$ and you can buy the ticket at a ticket counter 

Public transport from Anton Valley back to Panama City - same like above ☺️ just ask in the hostel where your bus stop is. In our hostel it was direct in front of the street. 

Public transport from Panama City to Puerto Lindo: 

1. take a bus/metro/uber to the main busstation in Albrook 

2. take a bus that is heading to Colon and say to the bus driver that you are dropping of at Sabanitas. The busstation in Sabanitas is in front of the supermarket ‚Rey‘. Just go around the corner and wait for a bus that goes to Puerto Lindo. Ask the citiziens or the bus driver which one is the right - could be ‚La Guaira‘ on the bus but also something else. We took the bus in Colon about 12:20 and arrivied at 13:50 in Sabanitas. In Sabanitas the bus came at 14:20 and needs 1 1/2 hour to Puerto Lindo. In total it is about 6$. 

We took a taxi for 5$ to the Linton Bay Marina on the next day. 

This was our 21 days trip through Panama. Hope the Information is useful for you and give you a good overview travelling around with public transport in Panama. 

In total we spent 2.976,45€ this is 1.488,23€ per person and 70,87€ per day. Here are two expensive experiences included - open water diver for 317,64€ and the sailing trip to the San Blas Islands for 602,59€. So without this two things we spent 1.136€ this is 568€ per person and 27,05€ per day.
