10 Day Montenegro Road Trip

10 Day Montenegro Road Trip

Sarah Parker
This comprehensive 10-day itinerary is ideal for adventurers who want to experience Montenegro's diverse landscapes, from stunning beaches to breathtaking canyons and mountains, all within a little over a week. We recommend this itinerary for the summer months when hiking trails are accessible. Having traveled full-time for a year, we spent six weeks as digital nomads in Montenegro, dedicating every spare moment to exploring the country and discovering the best beaches, hikes, restaurants, and more. In this guide, you’ll receive: ✔️ A detailed 10-day itinerary covering 6+ cities and 2 national parks 🗺️ An integrated map for easy navigation 🏠 Accommodation recommendations 📍 Attraction & activity suggestions with booking links 🍽️ 14+ bar and restaurant recommendations 🥾 2 incredible hikes with links to AllTrails maps 🏖️ 4+ beach recommendations Note: While this guide includes some budget-friendly and free locations, hikes, and activities, it is neither a strict budget guide, nor a luxury one. It strikes a balance, which is the way we usually travel.

Know Before You Go...

Airports

There are 2 international airports in Montenegro, Podgorica (the larger one) and Tivat. You can also fly into Dubrovnik, Croatia if you want to add a few pre-travel days to the itinerary and it's a fairly easy drive from there. If you go this route, you will need to notify the rental car company that you plan to drive between countries.

Rental Cars

You will need to rent a car for this road trip itinerary, and there are not a lot of public transportation options available within Montenegro. You can easily compare prices at the site below!

Language

In Montenegro the primary language is Montenegrin (which, as of now, is not even in Google Translate). However, Serbian, Albanian, Bosnian, and Croatian are recognized languages of official use as well. We recommend downloading Serbian into Google Translate before you go. Although most people speak English, not everyone does so it's best to be prepared!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sarah Parker
I've always been an adventurer and travel enthusiast. By 22, I had already lived in Texas, Miami, Montana, and Argentina. After meeting my now husband and starting an eCommerce agency together, we realized that our remote work lifestyle offered a unique opportunity. In November 2023, we decided to put our belongings in storage and embark on a journey of full-time travel. Since then, we've explored 14 countries and have plans to visit 8 more this year! We love sharing our adventures on Instagram and are excited to create itineraries for some of our favorite destinations, helping others plan their dream trips.
