Munich Central Station

Start at the Munich Hauptbahnhof early in the morning. The view point at the peak closes quite early (around 4:30), so you will want to get an early start. Take the RB train in the direction of Kochel.

Kochel Train Station

Take the 9608 bus in the direction of Wallgau. They only leave once an hour, and are synced with the trains.

Exit the bus at the Herzogstandbahn bus stop, and head to the Herzogstand gondola. pay for your tickets, (pay for one ride up and one ride down). Head up the mountain via gondola ride. You can also hike, but it takes a while, and is not incredibly scenic.

Exit the gondola, and begin the up hill walk towards the Herzogstand. This will take 30-40 minutes depending on your fitness level. This is generally a beginners level hike. Take pictures at the cross of the double lake view of lake Kochelsee and lake Walchensee. Continue up for 5 minutes to the gazebo to eat a packed lunch.
