Switzerland, a country full of beautiful lakes, mountains and lush green meadows, is dream destination for Indians. Thanks to Yash Chopra and his films shot in this picturesque country. And like everybody, Swiss was my bucket list for a while now.

I went to Switzerland in April 2023 with my one year old boy, husband and group of friends. We entered Switzerland via train from Milan and it was the most beautiful train journey one can ever imagine.

Interlaken was the first city we stayed in. This small town between two lakes, as the name suggests, is one of the favourites among travellers. The vibe of the town is very quiet and has the best views. It is also a paradise for adventure lovers as you can enjoy sky diving and paragliding here. After staying two days in this town, we went to Zurich.

Zurich is a city more like Delhi. It is full of beautiful art and architecture and has a lively nightlife. We stayed there for three days and visited nearby towns, including Lucerne and Rhinefall.

Reaching Interlaken

If you are flying from Delhi, you can take a flight to Zurich and then take a train to Interlaken. If you are entering Switzerland from any other EU nation, you can take a train.

Things to do in Interlaken

Day 1

Check in your hotel and take a walk around the town. If you are staying in the city centre, evrything is accessible by foot.In the evening, go to Hardar Kulm, the highest furnacular station in the country. This place offers the most spectacular view of the snow-clad mountains and Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. There is resturant at the top, where you can enjoy a cheese fondue and some hot chocolate. Come back to the town and take a stroll around its luxurious shopping street. Visit the famous Yash Chopra statue

 Day 2

Start your day early to go to Jungfraujoch, the highest point of Europe. Take a bus or train to Grindelwald, a small town near Interlaken.Wander on the streets of this cute little town before going to Jungfraujoch. You can also go to Grindelwald first, if you love adventure. After soaking in the vibes of this cute little town, head to Eiger Glacier via cable car. From Eiger Glacier, you need to take a train to the top of the Europe.Jungfraujoch is higesh most station in the world. There is an observatory, with an ice muesuem, Lindt shop, some cafes and a deck to see the snow-clad glacier up and close. You can spend two-three hours there but make sure to layer yourself and your kids with warm clothes. Come back to Interlaken and spent the rest of the day relaxing.

Day 3

Start your day early and visit Lake Brienz. You can take a bus from the city centre. It is one of the deepest lakes in the country. You can spend half of the day on the cruise or go baoting. Leave for Zurich in the afternoon on train. It is a two hour journey. Check in your homestay or hotel in Zurich and go for thermal baths to relax

Day 4

Spend the day exploring the city museum, Fifa muesuem and Lindt Museum. Check the tickets and timings before going. In the evening, go to the old town or sit in a cafe on the riverside.
