Vienna (Wien) Weekend Getaway (Full version)
Getting there
Whether you arrive by plane, bus or train, Wein’s transportation system is extremely reliable and will get you anywhere you need. Even locals say their spoiled by the excellency of the ways everything is run in relation to public transport.
You can get your transport tickets directly from the machines outside the stations or you can download the “WienMobile” App where you can get the tickets and pay them by card.
You have several options for the tickets; you can buy single tickets, 24/48/72 hour tickets or a day ticket. In any case, my recommendation would be to get the 24/48/72 hour tickets because they start counting the hours the moment you decide (the app asks when to start the count). For example, if you buy a 24 hour ticket and start at 5 p.m. on a Tuesday, it will expire on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The difference if you buy a day ticket is that this one will last all day, but if you start late you might not be able to get the best of it.
Another good thing about getting th app is that you can get directions where to go. It works similarly to Google Maps but the estimated time of the buses, subway, etc. might be more reliable.
