Wine Tasting in Val d’Orcia, Tuscany
Val d'Orcia Wine Tasting Tips
— Val d’Orica is home to top producers of Vino Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Ideally, visit Montalcino and Montepulciano to try both. The towns are about an hour apart and can easily be visited on the same trip to Val d’Orcia if you plan on spending a few days or more.
— Tours and tastings will generally need to be booked in advance, usually by email. Most places open around 10am and close by late afternoon. Check the winery's website for details.
— For a day of wine tasting, plan on visiting up to 2-3 wineries max. Don't feel pressured to tour each one! You can do tastings without a tour at many wineries. Book a tasting with food pairings at a few places for a full food & wine experience.
— Wine is part of the culture here. Restaurants and countryside agriturismi are also great places to taste excellent local wines outside of designated wineries/vineyards.
