~Copacabana~

Lake Titicaca
@tamaraknell
The highest altitude lake in the world with the silliest of names. Lake Titicaca is a stunning body of water that is surrounded by the Andes mountain range. You can observe it from the shore of Copacabana but to get a real feel for it, you gotta dip in or hop on a boat and sail around the calm blue waters.

Isla del Sol

A gorgeous island in the middle of Lake Titicaca. You can buy boat tickets in Copacabana town and either go for a day trip or for a multiple day stay. If you have the time I 100% reccomend staying on the island. There is a lot of Inca ruins to explore and the sunsets are unreal. It would be a shame to miss it! But if you don’t have the time, it’s also possible to just do a day trip to the island from La Paz on a guided tour. Pro tip: The island has a TON of steep stairs so if you stay overnight I would reccomend leaving the big bag in Copacabana and just taking a small one. There are no cars so everything you take you have to carry. Also everything is overpriced there so bring any groceries or snacks with you. And don’t forget to try the fresh trucha (trout)!

Cerro Calvario

Brace your knees and head up to this viewpoint overlooking the coast for sunset. Absolutely stunning colors and a really lovely spot to sit and enjoy. It takes around 20-25 minutes to walk up from town.

Isla de la Luna
@tamaraknell
A much less visited island in the lake but equally as beautiful. This island is much less touristy and mainly occupied by locals. There are several Inca ruins to explore and it feels much more rural and authentic. There is less accommodation on this island but it does exist if you want to stay overnight.

El Condor & The Eagle Cafe
@tamaraknell
The nicest cafe in town by far… it’s attatched to a hotel but you don’t need to be a guest to eat there. It’s a bit overpriced but the lovely view and calm atmosphere make it worth the money.
