China Town
@martinacristini
Immerse yourself in the pulsating heart of the city, where you will find every possible and imaginable street food. At night, this neighborhood comes alive with enchanting lights. Personally, I loved the choice to stay in this part of the city.

Khaosan Road
@martinacristini
How to describe Khaosan Road in one word......LOUD 🔊 This crazy and crowded street has many clubs and pubs waiting for you to give a twist to your trip! You can find very good restaurants in as well and all the area around. Despite the fact Bangkok is a very safe city pay attention here ( especially if you spend the night in the clubs) , this is a touristy and overcrowded street.

Eat

I mean... Bangkok doesn't need food places advices.

With thousand of street-food vendors and restaurants, my suggestion is to immerse yourself in local taste and culture.

But.....this restaurant below, especially if you are a passionate about cuisine like me, it's a must try.

Raan Jay Fai
@martinacristini
Jay Fay Netflix and Michelin star is an unforgettable culinary experience. Their signature dish, the crab omelette, is absolutely divine! Be prepared for a long wait that will definitely be worth it. I suggest you follow Jay Fay's Instagram page, as they often provide information about different closing days than those listed on search engines..

Travel Tips & Tricks

Currency 🪙

BAHT ( THB)

If you arrive from the airport before the passport immigration control you will find money change.

Even if the changing rate might not be convenient I recommend to change a small amount of money to buy immediately a Thai SIM card.

Transport 🚈

⬇️Download GRAB app, it's one of the fastest and cheapest way to move around the city with car or motorbikes..

You can choose to pay with cash or credit car.

🚌 Buses are another option that really works in Bangkok, especially if you are travelling on a budget.

Ask for your ticket inside the bus, the price depend on the number of stops you need to do ( average ticket it's around 0,60 euro cents)

Ⓜ️ MRT, Bangkok's subway consist of two lines. Tickets are bought in the form of tokens from machines at the stations. The subway is connected to the BTS (the sky trains) at Asok station.

*note: on public transport the AC blasting❄️, bring with you a scarf or a shirt.

🛺 Tuk Tuk are an open-air three-wheeled vehicles.

Generally really cheap, anyway always agree the price of your ride before you get into the tuk-tuk, and expect to haggle – your driver will likely quote an initially overpriced fare!

If you have internet connection I recommend you to have a look on maps to make it sure the driver understood where you asked to go...It happened to me very often the tuk tuk stopped in the wrong spot.

From the Airport

Suvarnabhumi airport is 31.5km far from the center.

Depending on where you are staying and your budget here you have some options:

⬇️Grab App

🚕taxi

🚌Buses

🚝Train line

Internet connection 📶

Wi-fi it's everywhere but I strongly recommend to buy a local SIM Card.

Buy them at the airport or in every convenience store as 7eleven.

I recommend to buy TRUE-H SIM card, as it's the only one you can easily Top up at 7eleven.

Convenience stores 🏪

Avoid to overweight your luggage bringing shampoo, conditioner and other heavy stuff...

7eleven is literally around every corner and it's full of cheap options in small packaging.

You will also find crazy Asian snacks to try!

Open during the night.

Temples dress code 👖👚

When visiting Buddhist temples shoulders should be covered and long pants should be worn rather than shorts.

Upon entering any building on the temple grounds, you must remove your hats and shoes.

Best known scam 😥

It might happen when going visiting Grand Palace or main temples like Wat Pho to be approached by tuk tuk drivers.

Following a small talk and getting infos about your destination you will be informed that the temple is closed for a Royal event or Buddha day.

You might be disappointed but thankful at the same time for this gentleman....here the story starts.

He will offer you a special price tour ( around 40 bath) to the other main temples around the city and he can even be your guide!

Without any cognition you will find yourself in a gems or tailoring stores buying expensive stuff...

SO GUYS! if this occurred to you, smile, gently decline and go straight to your OPEN destination.

I'd be so grateful if you...
