First stop: San José
You will most likely land in San José, making this city the perfect start to your adventure. Personally, we didn't stay long in San José, not even one night, because we preferred to escape to the nature and get out of the city traffic. But for a rental car or a quick stop for delicious Costa Rican food, it is recommended.
San José is the capital and largest city of Costa Rica. It has world-class museums, parks, hotels, theaters and historic buildings. Being a capital city, it can be really busy, full of people and you can spend hours in traffic.
It combines more than half of trade and services, as San José is the center of all production, all major banks and the largest companies.
