By no means a hidden gem, but if you’re looking for the classic Hofbräu experience and won’t be headed to Munich, a good spot to stop by, with traditional music, and a nice front terrace area for the warmer months.

A beer garden set in the Tiergarten, not far from the zoo. Whilst the food and beer may not be life changing, it’s a lovely spot for a beer on a warm afternoon.

Old school furniture, almost speakeasy vibes, and not far from several nightclubs, it’s a good stop in with great atmosphere on the weekends.

Less about the bar itself, more about the location. On the edge of the spree, in the centre of the city, next to the Berliner Dom, these small bars have a huge patch of grass out the front where you can pull up a deck chair and enjoy a sunset beverage.

If you are a gin drinker, this is for you. 150 choices, and a cute outdoor terrace. Drinks are a little on the pricey side, but nothing extortionate.

German style brunch, and home made bread, with great coffee on top. Also make beautiful cakes.

Proudly serving up specialty local coffee, with a seasonal brunch menu, great for both a quick stop, or a long brunch.

The claim to fame here is what used to be a public toilet, now churns out delicious burgers until the early hours. Expect a queue.

It’s not a trip to Berlin until you have experienced the curry wurst magic. Cheap, cheerful and delicious, get a side of fries with mayo to complete. 

With several of this chain across the city, worth a stop inside to grab what may be some of the worlds best cinnamon rolls.  

If I were to send people to one place in Berlin - this is it. Phenomenal Asian fusion, with loads of vegetarian options and great cocktails, with decor that gives a 1950s Vietnam feel. Three across the city, the Prenzlauerberg venue is the original.

Another excellent spot for Vietnamese food, the Pho is wonderfully balanced and tasty.

Handmade pasta with traditional sauces. True, authentic Italian in the heart of Germany.

The type of pace that has a menu in Japanese, and German, not English. A tiny little spot, with excellent quality Sashimi and sushi, no frills dining. 

These guys have been open and running since 1913, serving up classic German comfort food. The prices are reasonable, and plenty of beer options as well.
