Long Weekend in Lima, Peru
I took a birthday trip with my partner to Peru from a Thursday to a Sunday in May.
Long story, short: we needed to be out of our house for the weekend and there was an incredible #DeltaDeal for $400 round trip tickets (typically $1,000+) — so we said, "why not?" Which, I find, is how most great trips start.
My partner is in hospitality, so he's got his eyes and nose constantly searching for the best food and drinks anywhere we go. His lists are long and expansive, always a mix of street and higher-end/awarded. He and I both like to conquer a city by neighborhood — scheduling 1-2 per day to hit all of our hot spots, oftentimes doing pre-cocktail cocktails, cocktails, pre-dinner snack, dinner, post-dinner dessert, post-dinner-dessert-night cap, and maybe some dancing or one last night-cap for good measure. It's a problem, but it is also our way. It was great to do so in Lima, as the dollar just goes so far here, so it was an affordable trip compared to the damage we would have done in a city with USD.
We'll be back for the backpacking and nature adventures as soon as I get some actual hiking boots, but we can confidently say we soaked as much of Lima in as possible. Below is our itinerary for our 4 jam-packed days in the city.
