Andros Island, Greece: A Mini Guide

Andros Island, Greece: A Mini Guide

This is a mini guide to Andros Island. I created this guide for people who may be Island hopping and want information about a specific island but not my whole 2 week itinerary guide. Since you may be mixing and matching islands, this will help you to plan for Andros! Andros is an incredible and definitely still lesser known and discovered Island. Andros still has villages with that cyclade charm that you're looking for, but it also has so much more. There are hiking trails, incredible beaches, great restaurants, wonderful people, and truly stunning sunsets. This guide will mostly include things that we personally did while in Andros, where we stayed and where we ate. It will also include future ideas and things I wish we'd had more time for on our stay. Things we'd surely do if we returned.

Base in Batsi

We loved staying in Batsi on Andros Island. Batsi itself was small and extremely charming and felt like mini version of all of the incredible places you see and imagine when you look up Greece. It felt very local here and we loved that it didn't feel overrun and incredibly touristy. The vibe was SO chilled out and relaxing and it was so beautiful. Everywhere we ate the food was amazing, the people were extremely kind and welcoming, and the views were stunning. Andros is very large and we could have spent more days relaxing in Batsi and riding the quad to different beaches. We highly recommend checking out this island.

Where to Stay

Mare Vista Hotel
@planformedani
We loved that this hotel had an incredible view overlooking the town and the bay. They had great breakfast every day, parking for our quad, and a bar where you could get drinks and sit by the pool or sit on your terrace. Our room had it's own terrace which was great for mid day breaks or a morning workout or watching the sunset. We were very happy staying here. It was also a very easy walk right into Batsi town.

How to Get Around

We used quads to get around the island and really enjoyed the experience.  I will admit some places took a bit longer to get to than if we would have rented a car and Andros is quite a large island.  This is something to consider if you want to explore more and further a car rental may be a better option for you.  I definitely wouldn't come to this island without some sort of transportation if you want to explore.  I highly recommend renting a quad or car.  I am also listing two car rental spots on Andros Island that are worth checking out.  Rent a Bike Dinos is the quad company that we personally used and is also listed below.

It was an awesome experience to rent a four wheeler to get around the island! The people at Dinos were extremely kind and helpful. We really appreciated their friendliness. Definitely book in advance if you want to do this during your time on Andros. It is also important to have an international drivers license.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Danielle and I have been planning trips for the past 10 years. One thing special and unique about my guides is that I am not producing guides that I didn't currently use myself. The places in my guides are places I have been, the itineraries are itineraries that I have personally followed. Everything is real and I have vetted myself. My travel planning story started with a honeymoon to Italy and since then it has grown each and every year. I love all kinds of travel! It's hard to fine a niche because I fit into so many categories. I love nature, hiking, and being outdoors. I love beaches and sunsets and sipping wine and cocktails in pretty places. I love learning about people and cultures and history. I love street art and busy cities and I also love small towns and quieter places. I will sleep in a hostel and I enjoy a beautiful hotel. I love South and Central America and I am obsessed with Europe. I've been to Asia twice and hope to get back in the next few years. I love to eat and one thing you'll always get from me are true and great reviews of places that I've personally eaten! I have just returned from Albania and I am working on guides from that trip! My full time job is as a School Leader of Social and Emotional Learning in Philadelphia. All my travel is done on school breaks and in the summer. I have still managed to visit over 36 countries and countless cities along the way. Being a teacher my whole life is about planning and I do believe I am exceptional at it. I work VERY hard to plan incredible trips and now you can hopefully benefit from that as well!
