Full Guide for San Marcos la Laguna, Guatemala
About
If you're considering coming to Guatemala, you can't miss Lake Atitlan. With incredible views of two volcanos, the deepest lake in Central America, and undeniable spiritual energy, it's a special place. There are 12 towns surrounding the lake, each which have a different feel, focus, and cultural significance.
It's not on the radar yet as a digital nomad hot spot, which makes it even better to live here! There's an incredible community of travelers, nomads, and expats in San Marcos. If you love yoga or spiritual practices (or are curious to try them out), if you're looking for an intimate community and small relaxing town to live in, or if you want to live and chill by the lake, this might be the perfect spot for you.
Let's dive into some recs! Keep reading below for more information on San Marcos and how to get here. Also, make sure you click on each recommendation to read my full note about the place - some places are both lodging, restaurants, and activity centers so you'll want to see my full explanation of each!

San Marcos is a tiny place - there aren't really different neighborhoods to stay in, just up the hill or closer to the lake. So it's up to you what you prefer! Below are some places I'd recommend from personal experience and from recommendations of friends, from cheaper to more expensive.
