Prashar Lake Trek -
At an altitude of 2730 m, Prashar Lake, or Parashar Lake is a beautiful lake situated near Bagi village in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the most stunning lakes in India and among the top places to visit in Kullu. It is believed that the lake was formed as a result of striking rod by Rishi Prashar and water came out and took shape of the lake. An interesting thing about Parashar Lake is its floating circular island that keeps changing its position. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and looking down on the fast-flowing Beas River, Prashar Lake has a perimeter of about 300 m and is fed by small mountain streams. Also, there is an ancient pagoda style temple stands beside the lake, dedicated to the Rishi Prashar, the patron God of Mandi region. To reach the lake, there is a motorable road till the lake from Mandi. But during winters, the snowfall blocks the road, and the lake can only be reached by a 7 km uphill trek. Valley of Flowers Trek -
Resting at an altitude of 3600 m in the Western Himalayas, Valley of Flowers National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in India, and among the best places to visit in Uttarakhand. Spread over an area of 87.50 sq. km, the park is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers, milky white streams, snow-clad peaks, and a variety of flora. More than 650 species of flowers including Brahma Kamal, Blue Poppy, and Cobra Lily can be found in the park. One can reach Valley of Flowers only on foot from Govind Ghat, which is located on the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway. Ghangaria, a scenic hamlet situated 13 km from Govind Ghat is the base station and last human habitation center on the way to the Valley of Flowers. It is a 13 km long trek from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria that runs along a well-maintained path, which is the base for visiting the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund. One can also hire pony to reach Ghangaria. But the last 3 km trek from Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers is a steep climb and is allowed only during daytime. Besides, one need to get permit from Forest Department at Ghangaria to visit Valley of Flowers.
Beas Kund Trek -
Beas Kund is a holy lake located at the upper valley of Solang in Manali. The Beas Kund trek is one of the most famous and beautiful treks in Kullu Valley. It is one of the best solo treks in India and among the best trekking places to visit in Himachal state. It is an ideal base camp for climbing nearby peaks Shitidhar and Ladakhi Peak. It is a 5-day moderate level trek that starts at Solang, 13 km from Manali and winds through Solang Valley. Deoriatal & Chandrashila Trek -
Located at an altitude of 2438 m in Nanda Devi National Park, Deoria Tal is a beautiful mountain lake situated at Saari village near Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. Deoria Tal is one of the top places to visit in Kedarnath, and among the popular for trekking in Uttarakhand because of its ease of the trail and soothing scenic beauty. The road is motorable up to Saari, 13 km from Ukhimath. From here, one need to trek around 3 km to reach the lake. Jeeps are available from Ukhimath to reach Saari. The path is well marked and passes through dense forests and small meadows. Pony services are also available from the Saari village. Alternately, one can trek to Deoria Tal from Ukhimath, a moderate 7 km trek. Chokramudi Trek -
Placed at an altitude of around 7,200 feet in Eravikulam National Park, Chokramudi Peak is a mountain peak in Munnar, Kerala. Situated between Bison Valley and Munnar, it is one of the popular places to visit in Munnar, and among the best solo treks in India. Since it is located in Eravikulam National Park, the hill is filled with lush evergreen Shola Forest, and the park is home to large number of animals such as Nilgiri Tahrs, Gaurs and Asian Elephants. Kedarnath Trek -
Lies at an altitude of 3584 m, Kedarnath is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrims and is one of the char dhams in Uttarakhand. Flanked by breathtaking snow-clad peaks, it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and among the major sites in Char Dham Yatra. Visited by thousands of tourists every year, Kedarnath Temple can be reached by 14 km steep climb from Gauri Kund to the temple of Kedarnath that can be done on foot or on ponies which are available on rent from Gauri Kund. But the route has been modified after the flash floods of 2013 which greatly affected the Kedarnath region. Now, the trek distance became 21 km and starts from Sonprayag. From here a trek of 7 km takes you to Bhim Bali, while the next 7 km takes you to Linchauli and the final halt is the Kedarnath temple after a trek of another 7 km.
