Are you sure you want to go to Kuta? It's not too late to exit this guide...
I'm just kidding. Again once again guys, there are cool things to see in Kuta
There are not a ton of things that I would highlight in Kuta as being must-do's, but there might be some things that appeal to you. The reasons I go to Kuta are cheap shopping, the occasional night out and that's probably where it ends. Below I'll highlight some of the main attractions of the area.
Things to do in Kuta
🏄 Learn to Surf
Kuta is a great place to learn to surf because it has small waves and no reef.
Kuta Beach
@lostleblanc
If you want to learn to become a surfer, then Kuta is a decent place. There is a large beach strip with very beginner waves that aren't too strong. There's no coral either. You're not going to get absolutely pitted, but you can rent boards along the beach.
You'll probably spend around 50,000 IDR for about an hour to an hour and a half. I highly recommend asking the person selling you the board how much it would cost for him to show you how to surf. It's not something you just stand on and go - even coming from someone who has snowboarded their whole life, it's been a very shockingly difficult task to get up on my board. So that very first lesson could be a great way to skyrocket you forward into your career becoming Kelly Slater.

One of the reasons I actually recommend you go see Kuta before you leave, is definitely to do some shopping. if you want to get knockoff clothing like a Nike sweater or you want to get some ridiculous bintang T shirts, it can all be found there for like $3 to $7. It's cheap merch, and will probably fall apart in your wash. But it's still some stuff to bring home for friends and family to hold on some memories.
You can even buy knockoff Nike shoes, I bought a pair of ones and they actually held up surprisingly long. If you want to find some of that night market-style shopping with cheap merch Kuta is the place to go.
Typically there will be a bit of negotiating involved, but I've found that they have actually become more challenging to negotiate with but put on your negotiating hat and get to work.

Nightlife
Another big draw to Kuta is of course, the nightlife. The main bar and club street has probably at least 30 bars and clubs that are constantly going.
Sky Garden Bali
@lostleblanc
Easily the busiest club in all of Bali, maybe even Indonesia, is Sky Garden. Sky Garden is this Vegas-style club with LED lights, state of the art sound system, and lighting. So if that's something that you've come to Bali to do, make sure to check it out.
One of the things they actually offer is buffet nights, I believe, if you get there before a certain time, you can eat as much as you want, and you can drink as much as you want. And it's for a very reasonable price. A few of my friends have actually very much recommend it.

🍹 Sunset dinner at Jimbaran
Jimbaran Beach
@lostleblanc
Just outside of Kuta, you can visit Jimbaran for a sunset dinner on the beach. Here you can enjoy some incredibly red sky while eating seafood right on the water. I had the experience of doing it and honestly, I witnessed my most beautiful sunset I've ever seen there. So I definitely have some warm fuzzy feelings for this place.

🚤 Wake Park
Bali Wake Park
@lostleblanc
I've had the most amazing time here. Wake Park is on a large piece of land near the airport, and it's essentially a wakeboard park.
How it works is you hold on to a T bar sort of thing, and it pulls you around this entire square course, as you're going through the water. As somebody who's never really wakeboard, it's a great way to learn. If you let go, you don't get hurt, you just fall in the water. Then there's a cart that circulates around the entire campus and picks you up when you fall, then brings you right back to the start and you do it again.
You can also do Kneeboarding, or they have a wipeout style obstacle course where you can race your friends. There's one called the iceberg and it's probably like no joke, 30 feet tall. I was overall very impressed. It was a lot of fun.
