Normandy Region, France
Logistics
The Normandy Region is in the Northern part of France, along the English Channel. This region is generally cooler weather than Paris, which we found very pleasant when we visited in September. The region is a popular tourist destination, but transportation options are more limited. I would highly recommend traveling by car if you'd like to visit multiple places in Normandy. Most of the locations in this guide are about 3 hours outside of Paris so they could be done as day trips from Paris if desired, but I highly recommend escaping the city and fully immersing yourself in the Normandy culture.
If you have a few days to spend in the Normandy region, I would recommend driving from Paris to Étretat and spending a night (or a few!) either there or in Le Havre. I would then spend a few nights in Caen while doing day trips to the D-Day beaches. Mont Saint-Michele is also doable as a day trip from Caen.
Caen
Caen is a centrally located and larger city in the Normandy region. I'd recommend staying in Caen if you want to stay in the same place your whole trip to Normandy. There are numerous restaurants, museums, and nightlife in Caen. However, you will need a car to get around the region from here and some places require a few hours of driving from Caen.
