A Weekend Get Away in Portland, Maine: Guide & Consult if Requested

A Weekend Get Away in Portland, Maine: Guide & Consult if Requested

Portland is an incredible city for a weekend get away! I went with a group of girlfriends but this itinerary could truly be for just about anyone. This will include 3 days of things we did and enjoyed in Portland and additional things I would have done if we had more time. I am happy to consult with you about this itinerary as well through phone, email, or video chat. Start by emailing me at planformedani@gmail.com Portland had a LOT to offer. There was delicious seafood, beautiful scenery, lots of cute shops, bars, and cafes, lobster fishing, and many breweries! I was very impressed by this city. Portlands airport is also very easy to get to and you can enjoy your time in Portland car free! There are some things you can do additionally with a car that I will include. But a car is not necessary. This includes where to stay, a 3 day itinerary, and some extras.

Where to Stay

Coming here with a group of girls, we weighed the decision between staying in a house or staying in a hotel. In the end, the hotel won, and here is why. It was all a numbers game for us. Traveling with 9 girls, we didn’t want to have to keep getting in and out of a vehicle, especially when one vehicle (even an UberXL) couldn’t hold all of us. It made more sense to book a few hotel rooms and be within walking distance of almost all of the action. We stayed at the Portland Harbour Hotel, which was perfectly located in the center of everything. Besides a few breweries, we could walk to everything that we did. We could stroll the town, go for morning runs, and make it out at night all without hopping in a car. It had a nice garden area outside where we could all congregate, hang out, and sip drinks before and after activities, and nice little fire pits for the evenings.

Day 1:

On our first evening we arrived in Maine and went straight to Maine Beer Company.  If you do not have a car and don't have a strong feeling about getting here I'll provide some alternative ideas at the end of the itinerary.

I really liked the vibe of this spot, it was big and open and had lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They did have a small selection of wine, which was great for me, and I enjoyed tasting a few sips of my friends beers as well. They did cute little flights of beer and the place was so large and modern and clean!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Danielle and I have been planning trips for the past 10 years. One thing special and unique about my guides is that I am not producing guides that I didn't currently use myself. The places in my guides are places I have been, the itineraries are itineraries that I have personally followed. Everything is real and I have vetted myself. My travel planning story started with a honeymoon to Italy and since then it has grown each and every year. I love all kinds of travel! It's hard to fine a niche because I fit into so many categories. I love nature, hiking, and being outdoors. I love beaches and sunsets and sipping wine and cocktails in pretty places. I love learning about people and cultures and history. I love street art and busy cities and I also love small towns and quieter places. I will sleep in a hostel and I enjoy a beautiful hotel. I love South and Central America and I am obsessed with Europe. I've been to Asia twice and hope to get back in the next few years. I love to eat and one thing you'll always get from me are true and great reviews of places that I've personally eaten! I have just returned from Albania and I am working on guides from that trip! My full time job is as a School Leader of Social and Emotional Learning in Philadelphia. All my travel is done on school breaks and in the summer. I have still managed to visit over 36 countries and countless cities along the way. Being a teacher my whole life is about planning and I do believe I am exceptional at it. I work VERY hard to plan incredible trips and now you can hopefully benefit from that as well!
