Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in France is a must visit if you’re in the Alpilles region.

We spent a day here as part of our road trip of the Luberon in Provence. 

It’s a larger village than it’s neighbors (like Gordes, Roussillon), making it a hot spot for people with a passion for food, shopping, art & history. 

One of the things I find very charming are the cobblestone streets that lead you to hidden squares with gigantic trees and dining patios. 

There’s a lot to do and it can be easily made into a 2-3 days trip.

A Day Trip to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence 🇫🇷

Just beware, it is difficult to find parking in the village. Your best chance is to park just outside of town and walk into town.

You can find FREE parking at the “Parking de la Libération”, a 2 min walk into town. 

On market days however, this parking lot gets full quickly. Go early!

If you can’t find parking there, you can also try this nearby lot which is also free.

St. Rémy is known for having one of the best markets in Provence. It’s every Wednesday at 9 am - 1 pm (all year around). 

Theres hundreds of vendors with various local products.

I also found some beautiful jewelry, a sun dress, and purse for reasonable prices. 

⏰GO EARLY! It is fully set up by 9 am and gets crowded shortly after. I recommend parking by 8 am while vendors are still setting up (grab a coffee and croissant). That way you can leave early when it gets busy by 10:30-11. 

If you park at the Parking Liberation, start your morning off with a buttery croissant. 

If you arrive early, grab a coffee and people watch at the Café de la Place for an espresso. 

When it starts getting busy, plan your exit strategy. I’d recommend an early lunch on a terrace where you can watch the people go by.

Attention shoppers!! St. Rémy is a known shopping paradise. FYI - my favorite kind is usually food-related shopping so that’s what my recommendations are tailored to. 

If you just wander the streets you’ll find  boutiques at every turn. Freely float around and browse, stop by whatever piques your interest.
