Located an hour away from Venice and two hours from Milan, Verona is an incredible city that is worth spending 1-2 days exploring! From the history and architecture to incredible food, this city is well worth a visit.
In this guide, you will find an interactive map with all of my hotel and restaurant recommendations, as well as the best things to see and do in the city! You will also find all of my travel tips for navigating the city and important information for first-time visitors!
This guide is perfect for those of you who just want the research done for you, so you can easily navigate the best Verona has to offer!
All of my recommendations in this guide are from my personal experience when visiting! I fell in love with the city as soon as I arrived, and the food was some of the best I have ever had in Italy.
This hotel is in an ideal location for visiting Verona! It is just outside of the main square making it a quieter hotel but within a short walk of the lively town. I would also like to add - this hotel is a lot nicer than the photos look on this site (trust me, I am a hotel snob)!

Hotel Indigo Verona - Grand Hotel Des Arts, an IHG Hotel
This hotel is an easy walk to and from the train station. It is located a bit outside of the main city center, but still an easy walk into the main squares! This hotel also has a great breakfast and bar, as well as great spots to just sit and hang out after a long day of exploring or traveling!
Sitting very close to the main squares, this hotel is a bit more luxurious than some of the other options. It is great spot and beautiful hotel. Breakfast is also included!
This hotel is easily accessible by foot from the train station and city center! It is a stunning hotel that has everything you could need. It is also great for accommodating bigger groups!
This hotel is a bit more on the pricey side (also more luxurious), but so worth it! It has everything you could need, including an airport shuttle and breakfast served to your room every morning.
Some of the best pasta I have ever had - seriously, I still think about it! Also tucked in a cute little alley away from the bigger crowds with a more romantic setting!
For those that enjoy more of a "fine dining" experience, this place is for you. The food is incredible, but the presentation on top of that... amazing.
You can take the stairs or a cable car to the top - the walk up only takes 10 minutes and really is not bad! You'll find the best panoramic views of the city here and it is a perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset!
If you have the opportunity to go to a concert or Opera here, definitely do it! Otherwise, if you visit on a non-concert day, take a tour of the Arena!
Verona is easily walkable and many hotels offer bike rentals that are included in your stay!Β
Verona is easily accessible by train from stations across Europe, including Venice, Milan, and Innsbruck. You can also fly right into Verona's airport!Β
When to visit: Any time of year is a good time to visit really, the peak season is in August-September as the weather is more comfortable but still beautiful. Rainy days are possible in the fall but they are scarce still (maybe 5-7 days/month). You can expect some snow in the winter months, but they also have a great Christmas Market. Spring is always wonderful as well!Β
To save money when visiting the main attractions, consider getting the Verona Card for either 24 or 48 hours (the card costs 20-25 euros and you get access to the main attractions in Verona for free)!Β
You really do not need more than 1-2 days to explore the whole city, but with how good the food is, you very well might find yourself wanting to stay longer!Β
I always love taking a cooking class or a food tour on my trips to Italy and Verona has some incredible (and unique) options that I linked below!Β

βοΈ I work as a travel advisor for FORA Travel and while I love planning luxury vacations, I much prefer realistic travel that everyone can enjoy, which is why I started creating these guides! Travel itself is a luxury, but it does not have to come with the luxurious price tags. I am always budget conscious when planning custom itineraries, but I will always be honest about what is realistic!
