The Newfoundland Travel Guide
The Basics
🇨🇦 About Newfoundland
Newfoundland is an island off the coast of Canada and is one half of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the Easternmost province in Canada, and fun fact: when you are there, you are closer to Paris than to Vancouver! 94% of the 540,000 inhabitants of the whole province live in Newfoundland.
It is home to the first viking settlements in North America. Over the centuries, Newfoundland has developed its heritage through influences from Ireland, England, France and its Indigenous people.
🌤 Climate
Newfoundland benefits from a mild to cold climate all year long. In winter, you can expect snow storms and high winds, but it isn't as crazy cold as it can be in other Canadian provinces (0 to -10°C). Summer is warmer, but it doesn't go much above 20°C, and can still be very windy.
