A Full Guide to El Chaltén - Argentina's Trekking Capital
OVERVIEW
The road leading to El Chaltén is spectacular. If it's a clear day you will be spoiled with the most amazing views on Mt. Fitz Roy. This iconic mountain is just impressive.
El Chaltén is pretty small and feels like 90% of the town consists of accommodation options, restaurants and souvenir shops.
It’s mostly famous for the Fitz Roy and there’s plenty of trekking options here. In fact, El Chaltén is the national trekking capital!
What I really liked about El Chaltén is that you can start the tracks directly from town. You don’t need any overpriced transport to take you somewhere. Except if you wanna go further away of course but the main ones start from town.
I would recommend to spend 3 full days here. Any extra day is welcome in case the weather doesn't play along.
