Discover the Soul of Varanasi: Walking Through Centuries on the Ghats : A Walking Tour
Varanasi is India’s most sacred city, not just because it's on the holy Ganges River, but also because of its long history as a hub of Hindu spirituality. Ancient texts like the Vedas and the Mahabharata mention it as the city of Lord Shiva, and it has been the capital of several Indian kingdoms.
To truly experience Hindu culture in Varanasi, visit the ghats—steps leading down to the river where people pray and bathe. The city has hundreds of ghats, each with its own purpose and history. Walking along these ghats is sure to be a highlight of your trip to India.
Varanasi can feel overwhelming for first-time visitors. There’s so much to see and do, with the city always buzzing with activity, whether it's the many festivals, the crowds of pilgrims, or the daily prayers happening morning and evening.
A walking tour can really help you make sense of Varanasi’s vibrant chaos. While there are great guided tours available, it’s also easy to follow a self-guided tour to explore the city's top spots.Estimated time with breaks 6-7 hours.Pro tip : dont forget to sip on Chai and taste local snacks .Samosa is my fav with Chai.
