Craft Beer Bars in Southern Tuscany
Hersey Forehand
Even though you’re in wine country, sometimes you just need a beer, a tasty craft beer (birra artigianale), after a long day of sightseeing.
I’m here to help!
I’ve put together a list of bars, bottle shops, and restaurants known for their craft beer selection, 10 in the Florence/Siena/Arezzo/Montepulciano area and 1 out at the beach for fun 🤩. Some are attached to breweries, some are not. All are good.
Remember drinking and driving is bad. Have a designated driver or hire a car service.

Bell's Pub
@hcfiv
This is a true off-the-beaten-path gem. Tucked in the medieval village (and my hometown) Foiano dell Chiana the delightful curmudgeon Ubaldo and his amazing wife Louisa own this Italian lrish Pub (you read that right) in the heart of the old city. You’ll find dozens of craft beers, in addition to a large whiskey and spirits selection. Ubaldo’s tagliere boards of meats, cheeses, and goodies are the best around.

Hoppy Lab Arezzo
@hcfiv
This is a hole-in-the-wall but super hip little taproom and bottle (mostly cans) shop in the old city of Arezzo. Usually 6 beers on tap and a couple of refrigerators full of craft cans from around Italy and Europe. Grab your beer and grab a table out on the street or in their newly expanded lounge area across the street. Very laid back.

Sapor in Torre
@hcfiv
While ostensibly a restaurant this hidden jem in the thermal baths town of Rapalano Terme has an incredible beer selection and laid back bar area. Owners Lorenzo and Giacomo know their stuff when it comes to beer and they keep 8 rotating taps and a lot of cans and bottles in all styles. The third partner Filipo runs the kitchen and makes it worth your while to stick around for dinner.

La Bottega Matta Di Beligni Raffaella & C. Sas
@hcfiv
This unassuming spot near Montepulciano is one of the bigger surprises on this list to me. Its a small trattoria but they keep a great selelction of craft beers in side. They regularly have beer events and tap takeovers so check their social.

BEER SPOT Pub craft beer & cocktail
@hcfiv
Cool little spot a couple of blocks from the Duomo in Florence. This place is a a fantastic spot to rest on a beer keg stool after a lot of walking through Florence. They always have a great selection of craft beers on tap along with a good bottle and can selection.
