Rome Budget Food Tour: 5 places to eat with less than 5 Euros!
1. Il Maritozzaro- Maritozzo
They breakfast is the most important part of the day, so nothing is better than starting the day with a maritozzo at "Il Maritozzaro".
Il Maritozzaro is a bar/pastry open 24/7. Il Maritozzo is a delicious and traditional Roman sweet pastry filled with whipped cream, the cost? Only 2,60 Euros!
2. Supplì Roma- Supplì
Can you even say "I have been to Rome" if you don't try Supplì?
The name of this tasty snack comes from the french word surprise and it's a "croquette" filled with rice, tomato sauce and mozzarella. The Supplì here are always super fresh and you can get 1 for 2 Euros!!
3. Porcadella-Sandwich
Porcadella is a Panini Bar where you can find different kinds of stuffed panini the cost for a panino is usually 4,95 Euros.
My personal recommendation is trying a sandwich with porchetta or mortadella, you won't regret it!
4. Pane e Pazienza- Focaccia
In Roma pizza doesn't have the typical round shape you would eat in Naples but pizza here is done "alla teglia" meaning it's usually baked in a baking tray and then cut it in slices as it is made to be eaten "to go".
One slice of pizza (depends of course how hungry you are) costs less than 3 Euros. But if you are not up for a salty snack and you would like to go for something sweet you have to try the "Ciabattone Romano" it's a big pastry filled with jam or chocolate, the paste it's super fluffy and it melts in your mouth, the cost is 3,50 Euros!
5. Pastificio Guerra- Pasta
Near the famous "Piazza Di Spagna" where usually prices for eating will break your bank , there is this little pasta place in Via Della Croce n. 8.
The peculiarity of this place is not only the quality of the pasta which is absolutely excellent but the price is also unbelievable, you can get 1 portion of pasta for 4,50 Euros!
Buon Appetito!
